Mount Sinai Health System will stop scheduling elective and non-emergency procedures so it can free up health care providers and resources to care for Covid-19 patients, according to an internal memo sent to employees Wednesday.
The pause will be in effect “for the next few weeks,” Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vicki R. LoPachin said in the memo to Mount Sinai faculty, staff, trainees and students.
Mount Sinai will also curtail rehab and transitional care services at some sites and is recruiting additional agency and per diem help, LoPachin said in the memo obtained by Crain’s.
