Staten Islanders soon should be able to enjoy a salad or a slice of pizza featuring produce grown at a nearby rooftop farm.
This Earth Week, Mayor Eric Adams cut the ribbon at a 32,000-square-foot organic farm in Bulls Head atop the headquarters of The Nicotra Group, Staten Island’s largest private real estate developer. Lettuce, tarragon and tomatoes are among the produce grown at the Brooklyn Grange–operated farm, which also serves as green infrastructure to capture rainwater and reduce flooding in the neighborhood.
Adams described the farm as a win-win for Staten Islanders.
