Why, and how, a professional ballerina pivoted to career in medicine

A former New York City ballet dancer is set to begin her surgical residency at NYU Langone Health.  

Likolani Arthurs, a ballerina with 15 years of experience, sat down with “News All Day” anchor Ruschell Boone on “Women Wednesday” to speak about her desire to make a career pivot. Arthurs said her biggest source of inspiration were her parents, who encouraged her to help the wider community. 

During her studies, her father passed away from cancer. It was at that moment she realized how valuable it was to be a doctor and make a difference in people’s lives.​
