City Council leaders blast Adams’ affordable housing vision

City Council leadership and housing advocates Monday challenged the Adams administration to increase housing production goals following a new report showing the city produced 23 affordable housing units per 1,000 residents during the past decade. 

Advocates rallied Monday from the steps of City Hall beside Councilwoman Pierina Sanchez of the Bronx, chairwoman of the housing and buildings committee; and Councilman Rafael Salamanca Jr. of the Bronx, chairman of the land-use committee. They criticized Mayor Eric Adams’ affordable housing strategy and called for reforms to land-use laws.
