How arts organizations can tap into state funding

The New York State Council on the Arts is kicking off the application process for $90 million in grants for arts and cultural groups across the state.

As of May 24, the application process will be live for five grant programs including flexible general operating funds for nonprofits and cash to help organizations revise how they serve their audiences due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The state’s 2022–2023 budget kicked in $50 million in recovery funds, in addition to NYSCA’s base grant-making budget of $40 million. Arts groups have the opportunity to apply for $50 million more, this time in capital grants, come September—the investment represents the largest single-year
