Not long ago, I was walking down Hollywood Boulevard and wandered into Hustler Hollywood, which is, according to its Instagram bio, “an upscale, modern erotic boutique providing a sophisticated shopping experience for the sexually curious.” I made my way past a very large photo of the late Hustler publisher Larry Flynt, who in 2015 was possibly worth in the neighborhood of $400 million, in his gold-plated wheelchair and to the back of the store, where the sex toys are kept. There, amidst the usual fare, the vibrators and the dildos made and sold by companies whose names you wouldn’t recognize, I saw a brand I didn’t expect to see:
