Another Wednesday night in Woodstock found the Disco Biscuits getting Twisted with a full house at Bearsville Theater on hand for the East Coast portion of Bubble Tour.
With three nearly half-hour songs performed between two sets, the show was evenly mixed with early and newer material, a treat for fans old and new.
The opening “Twisted in the Road” was spacious as ever, clocking in at 29:36, offering a heavy jam and clean segue into “Spraypaint,” where there was only a short span of “where is this jam going?” before the band responded. “Trapdoor” got fans down and dirty on the floor, with an inverted “Home Again” that followed in before the ending of “Spraypaint” emerged to close the set.
Set two began with “7-11”, a trancefusion masterclass with a jam that eventually worked into intense love letter “Catalyst,” going north of 27 minutes and giving fans a full hour to get down on these two jam mediums.
“The Tempest” reared an angry head out of “Catalyst,” locking in for “The Wormhole” before returning triumphantly to “Twisted in the Road” to close the set. The crowd reaction to “Twisted”‘s bookend appearances tonight is a testament to the place that new material has found in the regular rotation. For the encore, a stand alone “Munchkin Invasion” filled in the final bubble.
Disco Biscuits continued the Bubble Tour in Wilkes-Barre on February 27, and this weekend perform in Huntington, Long Island at The Paramount on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1. They’ll be back on the road a few weeks later with shows in Wilmington, DE at The Queen and Sayreville, NJ at Starland Ballroom.
