Real estate giant Tishman Speyer is taking control of the vast majority of a sprawling affordable housing development in Queens.
The family-run firm has reached a roughly $90 million agreement with the Arker Companies to buy and develop 10 of the 11 sites that make up Edgemere Commons, the 2,050-unit complex at the former location of Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, the companies announced Friday. The project is spread across 2.2 million square feet, and amenities will include a plaza for community events, a playground, a community center, medical space and 72,000 square feet of retail.
