Acclaimed violinist plays for those experiencing homelessness

NEW YORK — Kelly Hall-Tompkins’ career follows where her talents and passion take her.

“As a child, I fell in love with the violin when I was 9 years old,” Hall-Tompkins said.

Hall-Tompkins, who grew up in South Carolina, trained at the top music schools in New York and has won many prestigious awards and competitions.

“Originally, I thought I wanted an orchestral career. But it was really the passion I felt since I was 9 years old was as soloist. So I left an orchestral career and decided to become a soloist,” Hall-Tompkins said.
