Week after week, my TikTok FYP is flooded with yet another “latest and greatest” hair tool that claims it’ll give me salon-worthy results. Whether it be a new curling iron, hair straightener, hot brush, or multi-styler with cool techy features and transformative claims, it’s always something bigger (metaphorically speaking) and better. And as exciting as it is for me (a 27-year-old who literally just mastered curling my hair) to see all this, it’s also overwhelming to decipher what exactly works best for my thick, textured hair and what’s worth the money amidst all the fresh inventory out there.
