The widespread public anger at the Russian invasion of Ukraine has had a surprising consequence: a movement to ditch Russian vodka among consumers. Vodka, however, is produced all over the world and is the best-selling spirit in the United States.
A Russian sounding name is no guarantee that the vodka is produced in Russia. Stolichnaya, for example, is a historic Russian brand owned by two different companies – one based in Russia, and one based in Luxembourg.
