City Council set to approve delay on pay transparency requirement

Don’t expect to see salary ranges in all job postings just yet.

Weeks before a new city law was to require pay disclosure in job ads, a City Council committee on Wednesday approved a bill to delay the law’s start date to Nov. 1. The council’s approval sets up a final vote for Thursday on the bill, which amends a law enacted at the end of 2021.

The new bill will push the start of the salary disclosure law back from May 15, something lawmakers say will give businesses more time to prepare.

The committee’s approval follows a series of twists and turns for the legislation.
