After more than three decades at the helm of one of New York’s biggest real estate investment firms, founder Robert “Bob” Steers is stepping down as chief executive of Cohen & Steers.
The firm named Joseph Harvey, its president, to the additional role of CEO.
Steers will remain as executive chairman of the company, which he founded in 1986 with partner Martin “Marty” Cohen, who is the chairman. Together, they’ve invested in publicly traded real estate companies and private real estate assets, as well as in natural resource equities.
The value of the firm’s U.S. real estate investments is $43 billion, according to its most recent earnings
