NYC Council set to OK record $101B budget deal forged with Mayor Adams

The New York City Council is set to grant final approval to the Big Apple’s record breaking $101.1 billion budget for 2023 in a late Monday night vote, after lawmakers and Mayor Eric Adams struck a tentative deal on the spending plan last week.

The Council’s meeting to debate and likely grant final approval to the budget gets underway at 7 p.m. and the final vote tallies are not expected until closer to midnight.

Hizzoner and Council Speaker Adrienne Adams have aggressively touted expansions of the summer workforce program, homeless shelter beds and the discounted MetroCard program for needy New Yorkers.
