Six CUNY community colleges adopt short-term tech training with $5M grant

A consortium of six City University of New York community colleges has handed out certificates to the first group of students to finish a $5 million federal grant–funded program aimed at propelling more New Yorkers without bachelor’s degrees into well-paying, career-track jobs.

The program’s first 30 students have finished the software engineering and web development courses, many with jobs in hand, according to Hui-Yin Hsu, dean of continuing education and workforce development at Queensborough Community College, the lead grant recipient. More students are currently enrolled in tech, health care and education programs.
