Two Killed When Medical Helicopter Crashes in Upstate New York

Two people aboard a medical helicopter were killed Tuesday when the aircraft crashed in western New York, according to state police.

The Mercy Flight helicopter went down in the Genesee County town of Elba while on a training flight at about 1 p.m., Maj. Eugene Staniszewski said at a news conference. The victims were believed to be the only people in the helicopter when it crashed. No patients were on board, authorities said.

A photo on the website of The Daily News of Batavia showed smoke rising from wreckage in a field.
