West Village, Castle Hill getting new business improvement districts

​​The New York City Council approved the creation of two new business improvement districts, in the West Village in Manhattan and the Castle Hill neighborhood of the Bronx.

The council voted to establish both BIDs in a pair of 50-1 votes yesterday. City Council Finance Chair Justin Brannan sponsored both resolutions, which each had been years in the making. The Castle Hill BID District Management Association will oversee the new Bronx business district under a proposed first-year budget of $300,000.
