Parisian rats, visible to most humans around the city, are not the news. After all, as in many big cities around the world, the rodents are an aspect of “le quotidien” — daily life — in the “City of Light.” What’s new is the official intention to come up with a plan for peaceful ‘cohabitation’ with the rodents.
After decades of battling them, Paris City Hall has now assembled a committee to investigate ways to coexist with vermin and develop a different approach for dealing with them that’s, in the worlds of the city’s deputy mayor for public health, “effective” and “not unbearable” for Parisians.
