Industrial Designer Guillaume Bloget’s Sleek Aluminum and Cork Kayak

France’s Rhizome Association provides research-creation residences to creatives and scientists. There participant and industrial designer Guillaume Bloget created this Sharp kayak, inspired by the Association’s surroundings:The presence of lakes around the workshop gave rise to the idea of an aluminum kayak. I worked on the design of a hydrodynamic hull in order to produce a good sliding sensation. Uniquely structured by folding, the double wall makes the kayak unsinkable. A cork seat mediates between the curves of the body and the angles of the passenger compartment. The shine of aluminum plays with the reflections of the water.
