Fraternal Twin Announce New Album, Listen to New Single “Solitude”

The wait is finally over. After a decade, Fraternal Twin announced a new album titled Halo Fell Forever. In celebration of the band’s upcoming release, they have dropped their new single titled “Solitude” along with a music video.

The New York City band consists of singer Tom Christie, guitarist Mariah Houston, bassist Forrest Philpot, and drummer Mario Spodek. Their first album, Skin Gets Hot saw great success in the underground indie rock scene. Recently, the album was re-released with unreleased songs and demos that were previously unheard.

Although some of the songs on the upcoming album were written as far back as 2016, the hiatus was unplanned. Christie explained that he fell on difficult times and needed some time to find a peaceful resolution, which was far from easy. This emotional turmoil shows through the album’s tracks, which are both chaotic and peaceful.

Halo Fell Forever signifies the return of the band following the unpredictable decade Christie experienced. After this period of growth, Christie says there’s going to be more music coming. “I don’t plan on disappearing again anytime soon.”

“Solitude” starts with a bit of a grungy riff before transitioning into a dark indie sound. Christie’s vocals are soft, almost something out of a dream pop song. The music video engages in this distortion, with the usage of low definition camera work and negative filters. Christie is completely alone in the music video, highlighting the isolation he felt.

“The lyrics are probably my most abstract and stream-of-consciousness, maybe exploring the process of learning to accept uncomfortable emotions like anxiety and dread.” Christie shared. “The whole song feels like a dream sequence that came from spending too much time alone in my room at night, ruminating and overthinking. Thankfully, I don’t experience that anymore.”

Fraternal Twin are going on tour with rock band Ditch. For the entire month of August, they will travel across the country, kicking off their first show in Brooklyn. The new album releases a month later on September 6, after the tour finishes.
