The Most Extravagant Hotel Packages for Soccer Fans Heading to New Jersey World Cup Games

As a sports fan who loves to be part of a cultural moment (let’s go Knicks!), I can’t wait for the FIFA World Cup to kick off. But as a New Yorker who has to get to work every day? I’m terrified of the traffic that’s about to hit my city as fans fly in from all over the world to see their teams compete for soccer supremacy.

The first game at East Rutherford’s MetLife Stadium (about nine miles from Midtown Manhattan) will take place on June 13, when Brazil faces off against Morocco, and severe congestion is expected to plague transportation systems across New York and New Jersey. So much so that the NYC Department of Transportation has officially designated all eight game days—on dates between June 13 and July 17—as “gridlock alert days,” urging people to walk, bike, or take public transit whenever possible. Long story short: The roads are about to be a battle, and it’s putting a bit of a damper on some of the excitement.

But the show must go on, and a few NYC hotels are helping make things easier for FIFA fans to see the beautiful game without all the stress of getting to and from the stadium. The four luxury Manhattan properties below are all offering premium World Cup packages where rooms, round-trip transportation (some via helicopter!), and, in some cases, tickets are all included in one price. Most cost a pretty penny, but if convenience is priceless to you, I promise you’re going to want to keep reading. These hotels are serving up once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to see soccer in its shiniest form, all from the heart of the Big Apple.

If you’ve got $30k lying around and a love for either the England or Panama national soccer teams, The Ultimate Football Suite at Gansevoort Meatpacking is calling your name. The package gives two guests full access to the hotel’s celebrity-favorite Duplex Penthouse from June 26–28 (two nights), two tickets to the England vs. Panama game on June 27, and private helicopter transfers between NYC and MetLife Stadium to get to and from the match.

But the luxury doesn’t stop there. The package also includes Dom Pérignon and Petrossian caviar upon arrival, FIFA-inspired amenities, in-room styling and grooming ahead of the game, a day-after massage or facial with Maison Sisley, and so much more. I spent a night in this penthouse a couple of years ago, and can confirm it’s actually as fabulous as it looks in the photos. Add a chopper to one of the hottest games of the year, and it doesn’t get much more sumptuous.

The Penthouse World Cup Package at The Mark—one of the most iconic hotels on the Upper East Side—is definitely the most over-the-top offering on this list. The four-night FIFA-centric experience, which takes place from July 16–21, gives six guests the chance to escape from the FIFA madness in the largest hotel penthouse suite in the US, which spans the entirety of The Mark’s top two floors. (The package also comes with two additional standard rooms, should you travel with staff.)

With plenty of screens for soccer viewing, a legendary terrace overlooking Central Park, martini and caviar service from on-site Caviar Kaspia, a 24-hour butler, a private gym and cold plunge overlooking Manhattan, a private chauffeur and luxury vehicle, and an on-call massage therapist, I don’t need to tell you that your stay here would be extraordinary. But what makes this package truly exceptional is the fact that it comes with premium pitchside tickets to the World Cup Final, complete with round-trip helicopter transfers, lounge access and hospitality, and a dedicated entrance to the stadium. Oh, and when you get back, you can head out to celebrate on The Mark’s private 70-foot sailboat. The only downside? The entire package will set you back a cool million dollars.

So many penthouses, so little time! The Penthouse Playoff Package at The Dominick in SoHo doesn’t come with tickets to any World Cup games, but it does come with just about everything else. For $12k a night (and a minimum of two nights), you and 11 of your closest friends can hang out in the hotel’s penthouse suite and host your own watch party, with a four-hour open bar, game-day bites, and curated decor in your team’s colors. Two king bedrooms comfortably sleep four people, so you can bed down and rest up before the next big game.

Already purchased tickets on your own? The package also includes private car service to and from MetLife Stadium, which is about 11–14 miles from The Dominick. Sure, there may be some traffic, but it’s a whole lot more palatable when someone else is driving you in a nice black car, and ride-share services are sure to be a pain in the butt.

Set in Hudson Yards, the Equinox Hotel is already just a hop, skip, and a jump from New Jersey. But the wellness-centric property is making World Cup–bound guests’ travels even quicker through its partnership with helicopter charter company Blade. Book a stay at Equinox, and you can easily add on a round-trip transfer to MetLife Stadium for any of the matches—you’ll first get flown to Teterboro Airport, then get a private car straight to the stadium for door-to-door service. No sweat, no stress.

When you return to the property after cheering your little heart out, the chill vibes continue with rooftop swims at the pool (book a cabana for a watch party), sunset meals at Stephen Starr’s Electric Lemon, IV drips and cryotherapy at the spa, and guest rooms designed to feel like sleep chambers.
