BikeBox: Bike-Storing Garden Planters

BikeBox is a lovely bicycle storage solution by Nomad Workshop, a London-based design/build firm. Partners Lawrence Friesen and Tracey Bendrien create garden planters large enough to hide two-wheeled transport inside:These are intended for Victorian terrace homes. The duo struck upon the idea after their own garden wall began to fail, and they simultaneously became irritated with their bikes clogging up the entryway hallway. Two birds, one stone. The duo prefer to build with mild steel, intentionally allowed to oxidize; after the rusted finish sets in, it then needs to have a protective coating added. For those that don’t want the rusted metal look, timber cladding is also offered. The planters can also be used to store strollers (er, prams). Global interest has been strong thanks to social media, but for now, BikeBox remains a UK thing.
