MMcollective: a series of three flower vases by MK Designers
MM Collective is a collaboration between graphic designer Michaela Zdeňková and product designer Marek Kounovský, MK Designers, that explores the relationship between graphic and product design through a series of three ceramic vases. The collection draws on the peony, lily, and tulip, with each flower carrying a personal significance for the two designers.
Each vase combines a physical form developed through product design with a graphic layer created through generative coding. A specific flower serves as the starting point for an original generative process, in which its natural form is translated into an abstract structure through digital code. The resulting pattern is then transferred onto the surface of the ceramic vase.

Flowers Become Abstract Patterns Through Generative Coding
The original floral motifs are not immediately recognizable in the finished objects. Instead, each flower functions as input data that moves through a sequence from natural form to digital code and finally to a physical object. This process creates a connection between the organic and the digital, while bringing graphic language into the three-dimensional form of the vase.
The selection of flowers is also connected to the relationship between the two designers and their shared habit of giving each other flowers. The peony represents the graphic designer’s favorite flower, the lily the product designer’s, while the tulip was selected by both. Together, the three vases connect this personal dimension with two distinct design disciplines, examining the relationship between graphic and spatial design, code and material, and natural form and digital transformation.
