Industrial Designer Moritz Schmid’s Patio Chair for Embru

Swiss furniture brand Embru is teasing this Patio Chair, by Swiss industrial designer Moritz Schmid. The form somehow manages to make a shopping-cart-like grid look both attractive and desirable. “The design is based on a modular construction and features a specially developed, technically sophisticated solution for accommodating different seating surfaces,” says Embru, who says a plywood-surfaced variant will also be available. “This principle follows the ‘Design for Repair’ approach and offers a high degree of flexibility, particularly in contract settings. Individual components can be easily replaced or repaired as needed, thus extending the product’s lifespan and conserving resources.” More details are presumably forthcoming; Embru says the chair will be in production by the end of the year.
