Greenwich Village will welcome its first new music venue in nearly two decades this September.
Bleecker Bell, a 200-capacity listening room at 163 Bleecker St., is scheduled to open this fall. Behind the project are the owners of Café Wha?, Groove, as well as Village Presents. Together, they will present curated performances by emerging and established artists across folk, Americana, jazz and rock.
Greenwich Village has a longstanding tradition of delivering live music up close and personal. Its dimly lit, cozy clubs helped make the neighborhood a destination for discovering artists such as Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix.
Today, Bleecker Bell draws on that history with 21st-century upgrades. The venue features modern sound, lighting and acoustics. It also includes a green room and other amenities for touring musicians. The design is intended to create a comfortable, intimate experience for both performers and audiences.
Located just steps from the historic Café Wha?, the venue will also include a full bar, green room, table and banquette seating, and a double-height ceiling with a mezzanine overlooking the stage. Visit the venue’s website for upcoming news and announcements about its opening.
