If you so happen to live in New York City—like so many celebrities do—then you’d know that there is a sudden chill in the air. Fall fashion is now in full effect, meaning it’s officially time to bust out your favorite coats, sweaters, and boots. (Sorry, summer lovers.)

One A-lister who’s already on board with autumnal dressing? That would be Olivia Rodrigo. Earlier today, the singer—who is currently on her Unraveled Tour—stepped out in the city to run some errands on her day off. And as usual, she served up some serious cool-girl styling.

Rodrigo wore layered a black knit shawl sweater over a striped long-sleeve tee, and then she paired it with a pleated knee skirt and leather biker boots. Don’t forget her Supervinyl hat, too—an ode to the popular Hollywood record store.

There’s something intriguing about this particular combo of pieces in her outfit. It’s all slightly free-spirited—thanks to the off-the-shoulder shawl and swishy skirt—yet slightly edgy too, thanks to those chunky below-the-knee boots. It’s a signature Rodrigo approach to dressing, of course: The singer always balanced sweet-yet-tough elements in her ensembles. One minute, she’s in retro babydoll dresses, and the next she’ll rock cool vintage punk tees.

And who says you have to pick a side? Eclectic tastes always make for more interesting end results. Consider her approach to fall dressing a jumping-off point: The next time you’re putting together a cozy outfit, consider juxtaposing your most prim-and-proper pieces with something a little more disheveled. That mix is what makes a true street style star.
