Rachael Sage Brings Under My Canopy to Hudson

New York-based singer-songwriter Rachael Sage will perform two concerts in New York featuring her new songs that will be featured on her upcoming album, Under My Canopy.

Under My Canopy is the upcoming album by Sage which includes some of the songs featured in her last album titled Canopy but with newer acoustic and instrumental versions. The album focuses on the ideas of resilience, hopefulness, inclusiveness, and finding a way out of darkness.

Her first show starts with a concert on Thursday, July 23, at 7:00pm at Savage Wonderground Gallery, Beacon, where she performs with The Sequins, playing with electric guitar Kevin J. Killen and harmonica Trina Hamlin.

The second show is at Park Theater in Hudson on Saturday, August 15. scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., and will have a co-bill by Grace Morrison. Sarah Jean, a violinist from Tennessee and member of The Sequins, will accompany Sage for an evening combining elements of folk, Americana, and pop music with the unique songwriting style of Sage who has been doing this for three decades.

Under My Canopy shows Sage’s unique style of music making through her use of lyrics and the acoustic sound of musical instruments, all inspired by the Americana, folk, and pop genres. This album is released at a special time as MPress Records celebrates its 30th anniversary.

She has performed alongside various famous artists like Rufus Wainwright, Ani DiFranco, and Judy Collins. Sage also recorded a duet with Judy Collins, who received high compliments for her vocal skills. She has won many awards throughout her career as an artist including six Independent Music Awards and John Lennon Songwriting Contest Grand Prize.

In addition to being a musician, Sage is also an artist, a former dancer with the New York City Ballet, and a philanthropist. Described as a “cancer thriver,” she has made donations and helped out organizations like Foundation for Women’s Cancer, WHY Hunger, National Network for Youth, Rainbow Mind, and The Trevor Project.

Given the popularity that continues to grow for Canopy and the arrival of her album Under My Canopy this fall from MPress Records/Virgin/Universal, the show at Sage’s Park Theater is a preview of her upcoming musical endeavors.
