Cardholders receive automatic Wyndham Rewards Diamond status during their first year. Diamond is Wyndham’s highest published elite tier and includes benefits such as suite upgrades (subject to availability), early check-in and late checkout (when available), bonus points on eligible stays and the ability to gift Gold status to another Wyndham Rewards member once per calendar year.

After the first year, cardholders receive automatic Wyndham Rewards Platinum status, which is one tier below Diamond and includes benefits such as early check-in, late checkout, preferred room selection and bonus points on eligible stays.

    Beyond elite status, cardholders receive:

    • 15,000 anniversary bonus points: Receive 15,000 bonus points each year after paying the annual fee.
    • An annual free night: Receive a free night worth up to 15,000 points after staying at least five qualifying nights in a calendar year.
    • A 10% award discount: Redeem 10% fewer points on Wyndham Go Free award stays.
    • Up to $50 in meal delivery credits: Receive up to $25 in statement credits every six months on eligible meal delivery purchases.
    • National Emerald Club Executive status: Enjoy benefits such as access to the Executive Area and complimentary vehicle upgrades, subject to availability.
    • Cardmember booking discounts: Access discounted rates on eligible stays at participating Hotels by Wyndham and properties booked through Wyndham Travel Bundles.
    • A 15% discount on purchased points: Save 15%, or receive the best available offer, when purchasing Wyndham Rewards points with the card.
    • Points Payback: Redeem Wyndham Rewards points for statement credits toward eligible purchases made within the previous 90 days.

The 15,000 anniversary points alone can help offset the annual fee if you regularly redeem Wyndham points for hotel stays. Add in the award discount, annual free night opportunity and meal delivery credits, and the card can provide meaningful ongoing value for travelers who stay with Wyndham even a few times each year.

Earning points on the Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus earns:

    • 6 points per dollar spent on Wyndham hotels
    • 4 points per dollar spent on travel, dining and at grocery stores (excludes Walmart and Target)
    • 1 point per dollar spent on all other purchases (excluding Wyndham Vacation Club down payments)

The Wyndham Earner Plus excels if you regularly stay at Wyndham properties, but it also holds its own as an everyday card thanks to its elevated earning rates on travel, dining and grocery purchases.

Travelers who prioritize flexible rewards may still prefer a transferable-points card, but Wyndham loyalists will likely get more value by earning Wyndham Rewards points directly.

Redeeming points on the Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card

With the Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus, you can redeem your points for hotel stays, airline transfers, gift cards, merchandise, statement credits, tours and experiences, charitable donations and even an AARP membership.

The most valuable way to redeem Wyndham Rewards points is typically for hotel stays. Unlike many hotel loyalty programs that have adopted dynamic award pricing, Wyndham continues to use a fixed award chart.

Beginning Sept. 15, award nights are priced at 5,000, 15,000, 30,000 or 45,000 points per bedroom, depending on the property. While the addition of a new 45,000-point tier represents a modest devaluation for a small number of premium hotels, fixed pricing still makes award costs predictable.

Cardholders also receive a 10% discount on Go Free award stays, reducing award costs to as few as 4,500 points per bedroom at the lowest tier.

TPG lead points and loyalty writer Katie Genter has redeemed Wyndham points for 15,000-point nights in Hawaii and 7,500-point nights on South Korea’s Jeju Island.

You can also redeem Wyndham Rewards points for Caesars Rewards properties, Wyndham Vacation Club stays, Landal GreenParks properties and cottages.com bookings.

Wyndham Vacation Club owners can also convert Wyndham Rewards points into Maintenance Dollars to help offset annual maintenance fees.

Transferring points on the Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card

Wyndham has a solid list of airline transfer partners. However, you generally receive better value when you redeem your points for Wyndham stays than when you transfer them to partners.

Wyndham has nine total airline transfer partners, including Air Canada Aeroplan points, Avianca Lifemiles, Frontier Airlines Frontier Miles, Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles and United MileagePlus miles.

All points are transferred at a 5:1 ratio; you must transfer at least 6,000 points. This means 6,000 Wyndham points are equivalent to 1,200 partner points. Given this transfer ratio, we strongly recommend avoiding this as a redemption method.

Is the Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card worth it?

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus is arguably the sweet spot in Wyndham’s refreshed credit card lineup.

Although the card comes with a $95 annual fee, the additional benefits — including first-year Diamond status, anniversary bonus points, statement credits and a free night after qualifying stays — more than justify the cost for many Wyndham travelers.

Travelers who stay only occasionally may still prefer the no-annual-fee Earner Card, while frequent Wyndham guests who can maximize over $400 in annual credits should consider Wyndham’s new premium card instead.

    Bottom line

The Wyndham Rewards Earner Plus Card offers an appealing middle ground for travelers who want more benefits than a no-annual-fee hotel card provides without paying for a premium card.

Its automatic elite status, 15,000 anniversary bonus points, 10% award discount and annual free-night opportunity can easily justify the $95 annual fee for travelers who stay with Wyndham several times a year. Strong earnings on Wyndham stays, travel, dining and groceries add further value.

Occasional Wyndham guests may be better suited to the no-annual-fee Wyndham Rewards Earner Card, but the Earner Plus is a compelling choice for travelers who can consistently use its Wyndham-focused benefits.
