“I am dreaming of a cold New York, and apparently my recent purchases are reflecting exactly that. The latest addition is this beautifully tailored Tory Burch jacket, and it feels like the kind of piece that makes you wish for crisp mornings, wool trousers, and a reason to wear a proper coat. It has that polished, quietly elegant energy that somehow makes me excited for fall. I also just bought another pair of these Mansur Gavriel ballet flats. “I went on a trip to Paris, and my friend Sylvia told me that I needed to get a pair of Repettos. I was always hesitant to get another pair of ballet flats considering I have so many, but I have to say that the Repettos have changed my life! At the store in Paris, they were so attentive to finding me the right size, and the new summer colors were so fun. I’m so into the color purple these days and this lilac pair was luckily in stock for me to get on my trip.” —Irene Kim, editorial production manager

    The Ethereal Additions

“To know me is to know that 80% of my wardrobe consists of pretty little white blouses and dresses! I can simply never have enough, so I picked up a few more from Hill House Home before a weekend getaway, and let me tell you, they were the backbone of my trip! I was, however, very inspired by the Vogue Runway package on color and decided to take the challenge on myself. I have been eyeing the brand Mais x Frida for a while, so I decided that the Rita top in red would be the perfect way to inject more color into my wardrobe. Although, I will probably wear it with a pretty little white skirt!” —Florence O’Connor, associate content manager

“I sound like a broken record, but I got another Cou Cou Intimates Rina top. I am hopping on this summer’s Breton top trend and got their new striped colorway. I also purchased two things that I felt were lacking in my closet: dramatic shield sunglasses and white footwear. Finally, I picked up a pair of micro mini shorts from NYC-based brand Amelia Designs, as I’ve been favoring a sporty, laid-back look on the weekends.” —Fred Sahai, associate commerce producer

    The New England Aesthetic

“I’ve recently discovered the brand Minnow, and I love their lightweight cotton pieces for easy layering on beach days. I picked up this gingham pareo, and this red-trimmed mini dress, and booked my next trip back to Martha’s Vineyard! I can’t wait to throw these on over my swimsuits, pick up some lobster rolls, and bike to my favorite beach on the island.

Also along the lines of this New England aesthetic are my new button-up shirts from Brooks Brothers. I love that, much like the Minnow items, these shirts are completely made of cotton. They’re perfectly tailored classics.” —Alexandra Ditch, commerce producer

“The Cou Cou Intimates pop-up took place in Nolita in June, so I went a little crazy and basically bought every item from the store (or, at least the ones that they had in my size). But my favorite piece is the long cami, which I saw on one of the employees at the Sandy Liang showroom. The Iris top is also so good and my best friend/coworker Florence O’Connor ended up getting the same colorway as me! It’s definitely going to be a Cou Cou summer for the both of us.” —Irene Kim, production & editorial associate

    The Walking Shoes

“The dance floor at my wedding was even more fun than I imagined—but my feet paid the price afterwards! After a couple days of hobbling around during my honeymoon, I made a rather off-brand purchase. I purchased a pair of Birkenstock Arizona sandals purely for comfort while walking along the picturesque, cobbled streets of Lake Como, and I’ve accidentally fallen in love with them. Lucky for me, double-buckle sandals happen to be one of this summer’s biggest trends! And while we’re on the topic of comfortable shoes, I am also very excited about my new woven flats from Margaux! They’re lighter than air, and the footbed is perfectly padded.” —Alexandra Ditch, associate commerce producer

    The Slip Silhouettes

“I am a big believer in wearing new pieces with the tags still on, and taking them out into the world. My rule is simple—if I get at least five compliments, I keep it. On Monday, I wore a new-to-me Proenza Schouler dress that I found on sale. I only had it on for two or three hours at an event where I was very much not the center of attention, and it still managed to earn three compliments. Not quite enough to pass my usual test, but I think the compliments-to-hours ratio was strong enough that it’s staying. I also bought a couple of pieces from Toteme that have yet to be put through the same rigorous evaluation process…” —Sache Taylor, director, special events

    The Edgy Upgrades

“I always default to baggy jeans and a T-shirt in the summer (lately, it’s been this oversized Acne Studios tee), so I’m constantly looking for ways to bring a little whimsy to an otherwise simple outfit. This pearl wrap bracelet from LM Gem is my go-to—it adds just the right amount of texture and interest, and without fail, I get compliments every time I wear it.” —Megan Rodrigues, assistant fashion editor

“Summertime means embracing my eternal celebrity style muse and fellow Brooklyn girl, Zoë Kravitz. I’m obsessed with her cool and laidback summer style. Her low effort/high reward outfit formula of tanks, slips and flats—often all black—is perfect for a day of aimlessly strolling around (my favorite thing to do on weekends). I picked up this skirt and top at Cou Cou Intimates’s New York pop-up last month, and have not stopped wearing these Bonnie Clyde sunglasses since I got them at their new LES boutique. The Basics Upgrade

“I was in basics heaven when I stopped by Los Angeles Apparel over the weekend. While I brought roughly half the store to the dressing room, I practiced restraint, walking away with just a few great pieces—namely the boxy white long sleeve and the no-bra-necessary performance tank top. Still, I wanted to add a little flair to my summer wardrobe. Enter: these funky Marni aviators with cool blue lenses. They level up any and all basics.” —Hannah Jackson, fashion writer

“I’m a creature of habit when it comes to handbags and tend to rotate through the same few favorites, but this one has earned a permanent spot in the lineup for days when I don’t have to lug my laptop around. Handmade in Barcelona from vegetable-tanned leather, it has a sculptural silhouette that somehow feels both understated and special. “I always stop into Soeur when I’m home in London and this time I picked up this beautiful poplin dress. I tried on all the colors and landed on the brown one, which I decided was the most practical, but I was also very tempted by the light pink version. I did, however, get my light pink fix with this new pair of Spicy Dan pearl dangly earrings. Spicy Dan is my go-to jewelry brand for fun beaded necklaces, so I was so excited to see that they came out with earrings! “Mine is a closet low on corsets, so earlier this month, I set out to find some bodice-hugging belts I could use to cinch in flowier silhouettes as a baby step to the real thing. The first, a simple wrap style from LA brand B-Low the Belt, is great for its flexibility: You can adjust it as tight as you want, no belt holes required. The second is larger, a sculptural, oversized piece from Marcella that can be worn two ways. The Summer Kick-Off Haul

“It’s not summer unless I make a huge purchase from Dôen, so to get in the summer spirit I ordered a few things. The scarf trend has taken off and Dôen has renditions of the trend in a few of their pieces, including a pair of buttery satin pants, as well as a handkerchief printed tank that will be perfect for many of my summer outings. Last summer, when I went to Nantucket to visit the new Dôen store, I saw the wonderful Beth—who manages the location—style the brand’s floral Elowette slip skirt with a solid T-shirt. This summer, I’m channeling my inner Beth by copying the look! Also, I’m very into sunglasses right now and my colleague Maddie Schulz has a pair of the Thistles Atlas sunglasses. I also shamelessly copied my boss, Chloe Malle, and picked up the Margaux Dylan sandals, which I have been pairing with my new favorite clutch to all of my al fresco dining (and drinking) plans—the fish bag is a real conversation starter! “Needless to say, I bought the dress version of the Cou Cou Intimates Rina tee that I wear every day and rave about nonstop. It’s the perfect Jane Birkin-esque black mini dress, and I will be channeling my favorite movie, La Piscine, while I wear it all summer. And as a die-hard Repetto wearer, I felt the itch to acquire some more fun footwear for when I feel like wearing something a little more elevated than a ballet flat. The Accessories Collection

“I’ve officially reached the point where statement earrings are becoming a full-blown personality trait. But in the summer, they really are the easiest way to pull a look together—a white tank, relaxed jeans, simple flats, and a great pair of earrings is basically my formula. I recently picked up two pairs from éliou and immediately understood the hype. Their resortwear is also incredibly chic—the kind of site that makes you want to book a vacation just to wear it all.

The last thing I need is another pair of sunglasses, yet somehow they’re always the first thing I end up buying. I couldn’t resist this pair from OTRA Eyewear—I’m a sucker for transparent lenses, and the light brown, almost yellow tint feels like the perfect addition to my collection.” —Molly Barstein, associate manager, audience

“I finally gave into the ballet flat revival and picked up two pairs from Sézane that I genuinely have not stopped wearing: the Anya low ballerinas in braided gold and the Irina ballerinas in powder pink. They have become my ideal in-between shoe for this strange transitional-weather period when you want to feel polished, but still comfortable enough to spend the entire day popping around the city. The gold pair adds just enough personality to even the simplest outfit, while the powder pink feels unexpectedly versatile and impossibly chic with denim, tailoring, or a slip skirt.” —Rose Carlisle, manager, special events

    The Relaxed Pants

“A little spring cleaning turned into a closet refresh, so this month I picked up a few pieces I felt were missing from my wardrobe. These straight-leg jeans from Every Other Thursday have the perfect vintage feel, and only get better with wear. With summer around the corner, I was also looking for an easy lightweight pant, and the Luna pant from J.Crew are exactly that. Now I need them in every color.” —Taylor Lashley, senior manager, social media

    The Chrome Water Bottle

“This Frank Green water bottle has the energy of someone who says, ‘I’m actually super low-maintenance,’ while wearing head-to-toe The Row—and I have at least one of those things down pat. The chrome finish is so intense it feels less like hydration and more like a tiny futuristic appliance you accidentally became emotionally attached to. (I also bought many Tory Burch products on sale this month, but they are sadly no longer available, so I will spare you the heartbreak and not tempt you with those.)” —Sache Taylor, director, special events
