Zendaya is in full Greek Goddess mode for the premiere and press circuit for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Leaving behind the striking red-blue co-ords and a cobwebbed Galliano gown from the Spider-Man: Brand New Day promo, she’s embraced all things draped and flowy: a twisted custom Jacquemus gown and headdress, an intricate gold Philip Treacy mask. There’s already been some serious archive pulls and fresher-than-fresh off-the-runway looks. Beauty, then, has followed a similar course to Mount Olympus.
The actor cut her brunette hair into a bixie last Christmas. It’s slightly longer than a traditional pixie cut, and with more movement and volume, the cut blends the best parts of a face-framing bob with the gamine energy of a pixie. Perfect for both Zendaya’s statement-making, chameleonic style on the red carpet and more relaxed day-to-day fashion.
“The fresh of the runway Schiaparelli was structural and otherworldly, and we wanted to [create a] raw, stripped version of the true mythological references but make it current,” says Moreno. He leaned into what he calls a “halo of frizz” and “air dried undoneness.” “[That] contrast really helps to tell the story—how much range a goddess could actually have to depict beauty and style,” he adds.
