‘Schmigadoon!’ Among Top Winners at the 2026 Tony Awards

Broadway’s biggest night returned to Radio City Music Hall for its 79th annual Tony Awards celebration on June 7. Hosted by P!nk, the live show celebrated new musicals, bold revivals and a Broadway season unafraid to confront the political climate.

In true P!nk fashion, the singer-songwriter opened the show with a larger-than-life number that sent her soaring above the stage. Soon after, Neil Patrick Harris and more than 170 Broadway performers joined her onstage for a dazzling version of “Lady Marmalade.”

Among the night’s biggest winners was Schmigadoon! which won Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score. Based on the Apple TV+ series, the production follows a couple who accidentally wanders into a magical town where every day is a musical, everyone has a song for everything and the only bridge out of town leads nowhere. To escape, they must find true love, which may or may not be with each other.

Afterward, The Lost Boys earned featured acting wins for Ali Louis Bourzgui and Shoshana Bean. As a matter of fact, this marks Bean’s first Tony Award after multiple previous nominations.

Meanwhile, Ragtime won Best Revival of a Musical. The production also earned awards for Joshua Henry and Caissie Levy, who won Best Leading Actor and Actress in a Musical, respectively.

Bess Wohl’s Liberation took home the award for Best Play. Set in 1970s Ohio, the production follows Lizzie as she brings together a group of women ready to question their lives, their roles and the world around them. Later, Death of a Salesman earned Best Revival of a Play.

Additional honors went to John Lithgow, who won Best Leading Actor in a Play for Giant, and Lesley Manville, who won Best Leading Actress in a Play for Oedipus.
