Weezer have an arena tour coming up this fall and a new album in the works, and in a move that doesn’t seem strictly related to either, Rivers Cuomo has uploaded a bunch of old covers to his YouTube channel. A representative for Cuomo confirmed that he was behind the tracks, which first surfaced over the weekend and are labeled “randum cuverz,” to Pitchfork, and they include his takes on Outkast‘s “Hey Ya!,” Radiohead‘s “Creep,” Badfinger‘s “Without You,” Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene,” Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” Nirvana‘s “Drain You” and “Lithium,” Green Day‘s “When I Come Around,” Post Malone‘s “Congratulations,” Eagles‘ “Hotel California,” Metallica‘s “Enter Sandman,” Guns N’ Roses‘ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” Michael Jackson‘s “Billie Jean,” and more. They’re pretty fun and you can listen to a bunch below.
“Weezer: The Gathering,” as their tour is named, hits 32 cities this fall with The Shins and Silversun Pickups, including Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on September 30, and you can see all dates below.
